Odisha has profound distinction in uninterrupted series of temples, prodigious illumine history of “KALINGA” from its inception to decline. The Lingaraj temple of Bhubaneswar, Jagannath Temple of Puri and Konark remain the height doctrine of Odissan sculpture. Its stupendous structure is so perfectly and proportionally engineered one can’t imagine without its direct projection. However it is erected with a jeweler precision and titanic view. Konark is one of the most colossal temples of Odisha as well as in India.
Where architecture taken its finest shape and it is situated in a small town in district of Puri and approximately 22 km north east from Jagannath Puri. According to history the present ruined temple was built by Raja Narasingh Deva of Ganga Vansha. The Konark is not simple monument; it is erected by its own specialty with sumptuous and finely colossal chariot drawn on twelve pairs (24 no’s) of exquisite wheels by a team of seven heavenly horses in spirited gallops and symbolizing color radiant. But what is the condition of the ruined temple now? It has been drastically weak by the time effect and other causes.
In fact time will come when we may not find the present Konark rather than a mountain of stones. However the preservation of edifice is seen for many years and making the structure more plane and plane other than miniature replacement.
In this context, as a temple architect, artist and lover of Odisha heritage, I thought, we must go for another “Aditya Narayan Temple” which can attract the tourists of national and international interest. In addition to this I also have trained more than 2000 individuals to became master crafts man but not only the mass is going to outside like Gujurat, Rajasthan for their poor stomach, but also they formulate other temples like “Swami Narayan” by diversifying themselves from Odissi fine art culture.
Odisha is a land of temples, it needs many artisans those can trained themselves in the tradition of Odissian style. Therefore, a new Sun Temple not only creates new artisans for future time also facilitates employment to Odisha artisans of the state and attracts those who are in outside the state. So, let revive the technology once again for our future time with promotion of employment, tourism culture and the master piece.
